65th anniversary survivor

September 2nd, 2010

Just another touching piece by NBC about a soldier present at the signing of the treaty marking the end of World War II.  God bless him!  And God bless every soldier and their families that sacrifice so much.

65th anniversary of surrender

September 2nd, 2010

This video is very well done by NBC Nightly News and I thought I would share.  Highlighting the end of World War II and the special place in history that the U.S.S. Missouri earned by hosting the surrender of the Japanese, this news report shares so much of what most Americans have forgotten.  The sacrifice, the hard work, the fighting spirit, and the determination of individuals that has made this country great.

Having visited Pearl Harbor this year myself, I feel a closeness to this that I don’t think would be possible if not for the trip to see these ships in this place.  To imagine both the tragedy and the heroic acts of the attack on Pearl Harbor and yet to realize the amazing strength our “Greatest Generation” encapsulated.  What a humbling experience.
